Our Terroir

At the heart of the Saulnois region, the Seille Valley is home to one of France's most distinctive wine-growing terroirs. Part of the UNESCO Moselle Sud Biosphere Reserve and the Lorraine Regional Natural Park, this remarkable landscape lies above extensive underground salt deposits that naturally feed saline springs.

These unique geological conditions have given rise to rare inland salt meadows, exceptional habitats supporting a rich biodiversity, including the Vic Salicornia (Salicornia vicensis), a plant found nowhere else in the world.

Shaped by salt production since the Bronze Age, the Seille Valley is a landscape of outstanding natural and cultural heritage. Its saline soils, clay-rich marl formations and millennia of history give our wines their distinctive identity and authentic sense of place.

Sustainable Viticulture

Certified organic since its inception, our estate is committed to preserving and enhancing the natural balance of every vineyard parcel. We are gradually developing an agroforestry approach by preserving mature trees, planting native hedgerows and encouraging biodiversity throughout the vineyard.

The introduction of disease-resistant grape varieties allows us to significantly reduce vineyard treatments while preparing our vines for the challenges of a changing climate. Our soils are nourished with organic compost produced on the estate by our goats, sheep and donkey, which also contribute to the ecological grazing of our vineyards.

We favour herbal infusions and natural plant preparations to support vine health while keeping interventions to a minimum, with the constant aim of increasing the estate's self-sufficiency and working in harmony with the living ecosystem.
